PMAS: Morocco for the Win
Morocco for the Win
Following Morocco’s outstanding second-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium (PMAS) in Rabat stands as a powerful symbol of national pride, ambition, and technological progress. Completed in 2025, PMAS is not only a world-class football venue, but also home to one of the most advanced architectural LED media façades on the African continent.
In the run‑up to AFCON 25/26, LAMALIF Group played a key role in the stadium’s renovation, delivering specialised services including lighting and urban‑planning‑related scope, and supporting the rollout and operation of the LED media facade and design.
A World‑Class LED Foundation
The advanced LED media facade at PMAS was design, built and supplied by SACO, a well-recognized provider of large-scale architectural LED video systems. SACO’ contribution was focused on design, layout and delivering award winning LED Video solution and supporting the onsite installation and commissioning process alongside the LAMALIF team.
Realtime Game Augmentation
Working alongside LAMALIF’s on‑site delivery, dandelion + burdock was commissioned to develop a 'real‑time game augmentation layer' for the façade. The system allows live display of teams, scores, and stoppage time for both local and national matches, while remaining flexible enough to evolve beyond AFCON.
Built using Notch 2026.1 and integrated into the wider media system, the real‑time layer sits cleanly alongside scheduled content. A custom, operator‑friendly UI was developed so stadium staff can confidently control live elements under match conditions. In parallel, detailed control‑channel documentation was handed over to enable lighting designers and future integrators to interact with the system long‑term.
Modular by Design
Designed as a modular system from the outset, the PMAS media façade supports both scheduled content and live, data-driven visuals. Its real-time graphics layer is built using Notch, enabling match states, timers, and live data to drive procedural effects with frame-accurate updates during play. Integrated within the wider disguise media-server environment, the system remains flexible and operator-friendly, allowing new behaviours and visual responses to be developed over time without re-engineering the underlying infrastructure.
Workflow and Performance
The media system runs on a disguise EX3, a platform known for its flexibility. SACO and dandelion + burdock jointly defined a structure that prioritises performance, clarity, and scalability.
Our Notch addon makes strategic use of disguise's precomps and feed‑mapping, while list indirections, multi‑track playback, and trigger logic allow celebratory clips to be layered in parallel with regular programming. Crucially, the workflow automatically accommodates three different LED device types, delivering pixel‑perfect output across the façade and allowing designers to work within a single, intelligible template.
A Win Beyond the Scoreline
Beyond AFCON 25/26, the system at PMAS is designed to endure. Knowledge transfer, clear documentation, and new working relationships ensure the façade can continue to evolve with future events.
Looking ahead, the PMAS media façade is poised to play a central role in future moments of national celebration, adapting to new tournaments, events, and stories yet to unfold. It reflects not only the energy of Moroccan football, but a broader commitment to collaboration, technical leadership, and a long-term vision that extends well beyond a single competition.
