This was the challenge set out by Lenovo for their recent digital campaign that combined human 3D scans, real-time animation, and cutting edge AI technology to create a uniquely personal exploration of what it means to be come face to face with your online persona.
Metahuman Digital Doubles
dandelion + burdock created the game ready digital doubles featured in the film. Each started out as super-high resolution 3D scans before being optimized and rigged for animation. Additionally each digital double was required to have detailed facial animations to allow them to interact with people in real-time. Unreal Engine's Metahuman toolkit provided us with everything we needed to painlessly create bespoke heads for each performer and record realistic facial mocap.
We were proud to work together with the fantastic team at Kaleida to bring this project to life. The end result is a highly innovative film that uses cutting edge technology to communicate a deeply personal and emotive story.
