Permutation - Zsolnay Light Festival

This year dandelion + burdock were proud to be invited to take part in the 2024 Zsolnay Light Festival. The brief was to create a projection mapping show that celebrated the invention of the Rubik's Cube.

Permutation is an audio-visual experience, inspired by the complexity and enigma of the Rubik's Cube. It is a celebration of the cube's staggering 43 quintillion permutations, where each twist and turn unravels a unique pattern, akin to the vastness and diversity of the stars in the observable universe.

The project delves into the themes of chaos and order, depicted through the repetitive and recursive actions of solving the cube. Each movement represents a new permutation, a step further into or away from order. This constant flux symbolizes the never-ending journey of discovery and the beauty of evolving complexity.
