G20 Summit
The 2013 G20 Summit, in St Petersburg, Russia, opened with a multi-dimensional projection ceremony against Peterhof Palace.
The Peterhof Palace is a series of palaces and gardens which are sometimes referred as the "Russian Versailles". The palace-ensemble along with the city center is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Invited by Drive Productions, who partnered with Orion Arts, we were brought in as technical consultants for the projection mapping element of the project.
This included working on the retopology of the laser scan of the structure and creating templates for the animation team as well as creating the project workflow, projector calibration, d3 project setup and operation.
The 20 minute projection spectacle, presented in front of the world leaders, included bespoke motion graphics, a 2 story-tall pirouetting ballerina; a live and exclusive performance by a full orchestra and pianist Sergei Zhili; and a dramatic performance by the Phoenix Fire Dancers.
